Amalfi Coast

This past weekend I went to the Amalfi Coast with my roommate Emilie! We arrived late Thursday night. Friday we went to Capri. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't so good, but we went on a hike which was fun though we got soaked in the rain. After the hike, we ate the best sandwiches I've ever had - Caprese Sandwich with turkey - it was amazing!! Then we returned to Sorrento on the ferry. We had planned to take a boat trip around the island and go to the Blue Grotto, but since the weather was bad, the Blue Grotto was closed and a boat trip didn't seem like much fun in the rain.

Friday evening we ran into two older American couples and ended up having dinner with them. We ran into them  on Saturday and Sunday as well. They're also visiting Florence, so we might see them around here which would be really funny. After dinner, we went to a gelateria called Davide's, it was recommended by Rick Steves and it was the best gelato I've had!

Saturday we went to Pompeii. It was really awesome!! The ruins are huge and there's so much to see! We walked around the Forum, the Basilica, Temple of Jupiter, House of the Tragic Poet, House of the Faun, Brothel, Baths, Theater, Egyptian Temple, and Amphitheater. It was so neat. There were so many frescoes, it was just incredible to see how intact everything is. Saturday evening we walked around the streets of Sorrento and browsed some shops.

Sunday we went to Positano, a beach town along the coast from Sorrento. The bus ride there and back was beautiful, we drove along a cliff side highway and had wonderful views of the sea and towns. We walked around Positano and down to the beach. There were many shops and little streets to explore. We had lunch and then caught the bus back to Sorrento. Back in Sorrento, we got more gelato from Davide's and browsed some more shops. Then we headed back to Florence.
